About the Editor
Glenn Ellenbogen earned a BA and MA, both in Psychology, from New York University, and a second MA in Psychology from Hofstra University. Psychologically unable to cope with having MAMA after his name, he resolved his problem by earning a PhD with dual specialization in Clinical Psychology and School Psychology from Hofstra University. Dr. Ellenbogen is licensed as a Psychologist in New York, New Jersey, and Connecticut – one state for each personality.
In 1980, Dr. Ellenbogen published a free-standing monograph (The Scale of Mental Abilities Requiring Thinking Somewhat [SMARTS], a humorous intelligence test) under the banner of a fictitious journal – the Journal of Polymorphous Perversity®. Soon, Dr. Ellenbogen began to receive submissions to a journal that did not really exist. Questionable judgment on Dr. Ellenbogen’s part eventually led him to create a real journal, titled . . . Journal of Polymorphous Perversity®. In 1984, Dr. Ellenbogen formally launched the Journal of Polymorphous Perversity®, published by his publishing company, Wry-Bred Press, Inc. The Journal of Polymorphous Perversity® was published for 20 years.
Despite Dr. Ellenbogen’s 20-year publishing venture with the Journal of Polymorphous Perversity®, he never lost sight of a key concept in mental health: Never quit your day job. For the past 22 years, Dr. Ellenbogen has headed up the Psychological Assessment Unit of The Center for Specialty Therapy at YAI-National Institute for People with Disabilities, a NYC-based non-for-profit agency specializing in working with children and adults with Intellectual Disabilities, Autism, and other developmental disabilities.
